National Award Recognizes Krantz PR's Creativity

The Tyler Area Builder's Association (TABA) has been recognized by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for its "New Home Bonanaza - an Open House Extravaganza" public relations campaign.

Krantz PR's promotion of TABA's "Bonanza" event in October 2009 received the NAHB Association Excellence Award for Best Public Relations Campaign Conducted.

The awards were handed out at the national NAHB conference on Aug. 6 in Santa Fe, NM.

The Bonanza was a five-day open house event that featured new houses and lots in a variety of sizes and price ranges. To further entice buyers, the homebuilders and TABA members offered additional incentives.

Krantz PR made use of TABA President Ricky Casey, casting him as a wandering cowboy looking for a good home. Casey donned his cowboy hat, duster and boots for commercials and billboards advertising the event.

"We are thrilled to add a national award to our resume'," said Krantz PR President Laura Krantz. "It is gratifying to have something that was a fun project turn into such high praise for our creativity. I'm proud of my team."

The Association Excellence Awards (AEA) is an annual awards program designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of state and local HBAs and executive officers in the field of association management. The Association Award categories are divided and judged by association size, so all associations have an opportunity to be recognized for their achievements.

Cattle Barons Gala Kicks Off Saturday

In spite of more than eight inches of rain, the show will go on. Volunteers have been working for a week at the site of the 2010 Cattle Barons' Gala to make this year's event a success.

"The forecast calls for a break in the weather just in time for people to come out and enjoy air conditioned tents and the closest location to Tyler we've ever had," said event co-chair Laura Corbett.

This year's headliner is our very own East Texas girl Lee Ann Womack. The event also features midway games, auction items, chance drawings and amazing food.

"No tickets will be sold at the gate, so anyone who wants a ticket will need to come to the American Cancer Society office to pick up their tickets either today or Saturday," said event co-chair Meredith Roberts.

The ACS office at First Street and South Broadway Avenue will stay open until 6 p.m. on Friday and be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday for ticket sales.

The American Cancer Society has been waging war against cancer for nearly a century, and our commitment to defeating the disease has never wavered. For the more than 1.4 million people who will be diagnosed with cancer this year, the American Cancer Society provides hope as we grow closer each day to finding a cure.
